## Access:

**When will faculty and instructors have access to Simple Syllabus to start working on their syllabi? **

The launch is Fall 2025. The exact date for faculty access is still to be determined.

If Simple Syllabus is not in "Existing Activities" when creating a module, the tool may not have been released for your course. Check with college eLearning staff to see if your course can be included in the pilot.

## Templates:

**Where can we download the template? **

The template will be available when you access the Simple Syllabus link in D2L.

**Are there many differences between the home and pooled templates? **

The banner and the order are different, but the same basic information is included.

**Will there be a different template for Concurrent Enrollment (CE) courses? **

The implementation team is reviewing this issue.

**Should individual college syllabus addendums (like resources) be included in Simple Syllabus or as a separate document? **

These should already be part of your college’s templates.

**Can college-specific sections be updated in real-time and cascade to syllabi using that template? **

Yes, these sections can be updated dynamically.

**Can chairs create a template that can be copied to multiple classes? **

Department templates can include custom sections, and yes, those can cascade to all syllabi in D2L courses that are associated to that prefix.

**Can key dates and other prepopulated sections automatically come in when accessing the syllabus each term? **

The pre-population functionality is still under construction but forthcoming ahead of Fall 2025, pending completion of Banner integration.

## Public/Private and Visible/not visible:

### Please clarify private vs. public settings.

Private syllabi are visible only to enrolled students, while public syllabi may have sections visible to others/public.

Components on your syllabus can be made private or public by toggling the option at the top of each component. Fields that are “public” are displayed to anyone who has access to the published syllabus. Fields that are private are displayed only to the instructor and students enrolled in the course.

### Visible versus not visible

"visible" means that a specific component of the syllabus will appear on the final published version, while "invisible" means that the component will be hidden and not displayed on the student-facing syllabus.

**What reason would someone want a syllabus to be private? **

There may be sections you do not want displayed to people who are not enrolled in the course.

**Will we be required to make syllabi public and available in a syllabus library? **

This is a college-level decision; some colleges may require portions of the syllabus to be visible before enrollment.

## Instructor editable areas:

**If you have tables for things like module outcomes, is there a way to copy tables from D2L pages? **

Yes, HTML tables can be used within Simple Syllabus. To copy tables from a previous syllabus, download from D2L to a docx or utilize the syllabus you created in Word. Click on the move box to copy the table and right click to select copy. Paste the table in the HTML editor box of the section. NOTE: links, font color as well as some spacing will be lost.

**Is there a "print" function for the completed syllabus? **

Yes, you can save the syllabus as a PDF and print.

**After it is published, can you edit it if you find an error?**

Yes, edits can be made after publishing.

**Can you save and publish later? And can you go back and edit after publishing? **

Yes, you can save and publish later, and edits can be made after publishing.

**Can instructors import parts of a previous syllabus?**

Yes, instructors can now import specific components from past syllabi, provided the original is published.

**What if my course doesn’t use traditional textbooks?**

You can enter any material name manually and leave other fields blank.

**Should instructors use college logos?**

Colorado Online Pool courses will show the Colorado Online logo. Other courses may show the home college logo based on section number.

**Why is the submit button grayed out?**

A required field is likely incomplete. Look for red/orange outlines to identify missing info.

**What if the course drop dates is incorrect?**

Contact your Banner scheduler. It is recommended not to submit until corrected.

**What is GT Pathways and what should be entered if it doesn’t auto-populate?**

GT Pathways are guaranteed transfer courses. Instructors should consult their department chair or use CDHE resources to manually enter the correct info.

## Copying:

**Will importing a previous semester’s syllabus from a pooled session to a home college course add home college content (e.g., banners, resources)? **

This is still under review, but adjustments may be needed manually.

**Will syllabi transfer when copying course components? **

There is a process to copy within Simple Syllabus, making setup easier the second time around.

**Once a Simple Syllabus is created, is there a simple way to transfer it to a new semester’s course? **

Yes, there is an option to copy within Simple Syllabus, reducing the need for manual copying.

## Sharing to college leadership:

**How easy is it to upload a syllabus to a division’s D2L shell? **

This depends on the college’s requirements, but exporting as a PDF and uploading should be straightforward.

**Do Deans have to approve every single syllabus? **

A college may choose if they want to approve syllabi.
