**NOTE**: As of Fall 2026, Pearson Direct Integration is no longer supported in D2L. For instructions on how to set up your Access Pearson links, please reference:

## Setup Information after Copying D2L Course

Note: This is the setup information if you are either: teaching a pooled course and have copied your course from an RTT or other existing course that contains Pearson links; or are adding Pearson content from scratch.

**Step 1**: The first time you launch any Pearson link in the course, you will see a Create Course page with two options: Copy Settings and Do Not Copy Settings.

![Create Course page](media://a81aad42-ff9e-4cce-ba52-67bcf20b1ad2)

**Copy Settings** – this option is for those who want their Pearson course to be a copy of the Pearson course linked in the MyCourses shell you are copying from.

**Do Not Copy Settings** – this option is for those who do not want to copy any Pearson course settings and instead get a completely fresh course, as originally delivered by Pearson. You can add assignment imports manually later. For more information, contact your Pearson Customer Success Representative.

### Copy Settings

**Step 2**: Selecting Copy Settings indicates you want your Pearson course to be a copy of what is linked in MyCourses shell. Once you select this option, either choose the course listed under “Previous Course” by hitting Continue, or if you do not see the course listed that you need, choose **More Options** to see if the course is available to choose from.

**Step 3**: In the More Options screen, you may see some of these options: the Previous Course, the Default Model Course, Other Model Courses, or specify a Model Course using a course ID:

**Step 4**: If you see the course you’d like to use (would be either the name of the course you copied from, or the name of the original source course for the shell you copied from), next to the course choose **Continue**. If you do not see the course you’d like, check in the **Other Model Courses dropdown**, or enter the course ID in the last option, **Manually Specify Model Course**.

As an example, the course IDs for the BUS2017 pooled courses can be found in the BUS2017 RTT course shell, under **Faculty/Instructor Notes, Vendor Support, Pearson, Course IDs**.

**Step 5**: Once you have chosen your course to copy (either by selecting it or entering the course ID manually), click **Continue** to continue to any subsequent prompts. Your D2L course should now be connected to your chosen Pearson course.

**Step 6: **If you will be the instructor of the course, cross over into the MyLab/Mastering course by clicking one of the MyLab/Mastering links in your MyCourses course, such as Assignment Manager or Course Home (but do not select Integration Support or Instructor Self Service for the first crossover).

**Important**: If you are NOT the instructor of the course but have D2L permissions to impersonate users, please impersonate the enrolled instructor for the course before clicking on any Pearson links. If you do not impersonate the instructor, your account will be listed as the instructor of the course on the Pearson side.

**Step 7: **Review the course content to ensure that all the desired content imported successfully and that all links and resources load properly. This should be done prior to the course start and prior to copying the content out into additional instances of the course.

**Step 8: **Use the [Instructor Self Service option](https://media.pearsoncmg.com/pls/tools/fulfillment/Brightspace%20Instructor%20Self-Service.pdf) to manage grade sync and create assignment deep linking if needed. If the D2L course you copied from already has grade sync and deep links fully set up, you will likely not need to make any changes.

## Setting Up Pearson Content From Scratch

Because of the Pearson setup process, it is encouraged that you copy your Colorado Online pooled section from a resource shell, to make your course setup easier.

However, if you would like to receive a default, new Pearson course for your designated course materials and bring in your own assignments; or you do not want to copy a resource shell, you can reach out to CCCS Academic Technology or your Pearson Customer Success Representative for assistance. From there you may receive a “fresh” Pearson course cartridge that you will need to import into your MyCourses shell.

**Step 1**: Download your course content from the link sent to you by Pearson, or use the course cartridge file provided by your course coordinator. Log in with the provided credentials from Pearson. If you did not receive the link for your course content, or the login credentials, please reach out to your Pearson rep or CCCS Academic Technology ([at.support.online@cccs.edu](mailto:at.support.online@cccs.edu))

**Note** - After logging in with the provided credentials, your computer will automatically download the required file (i.e zip or imscc). Please look in the browser download location on your device. Do not unzip or try opening the file itself. (It is recommended to NOT use the Safari browser, since Safari’s default settings ‘unzips’ files automatically, which will ‘break’ it.)

**Step 2**: [Import your course content/course cartridge file](https://media.pearsoncmg.com/pls/tools/fulfillment/Direct%20Integration%20Import%20Guide%20-%20Brightspace.pdf) into your MyCourses shell that will be using this integrated Pearson course.

**Step 3: **If you will be the instructor of the course, you will need to cross over into the MyLab/Mastering course by clicking one of the imported MyLab/Mastering links in your course, such as Assignment Manager or Course Home (but DO NOT select Integration Support or Instructor Self Service for the first crossover).

**Important**: if you are NOT the instructor of the course but have D2L permissions to impersonate users, please impersonate the enrolled instructor for the course before clicking on any Pearson links. If you do not impersonate the instructor, your account will be listed as the instructor of the course on the Pearson side.

**Step 4**: The first time you cross over into Pearson you will also see the options to **Copy Settings** or **Do Not Copy Settings**. Since this is a brand new Pearson course, choosing **Copy Settings** will only give you the option to manually enter a course ID if you have one. Choosing **Do Not Copy Settings** will give you the brand new default Pearson course.

**Step 5**: Review the course content to ensure that all the desired content imported successfully and that all links and resources load properly. This should be done prior to the term start and prior to copying the content out into additional instances of the course.

**Step 6**: Use the [Instructor Self Service option](https://media.pearsoncmg.com/pls/tools/fulfillment/Brightspace%20Instructor%20Self-Service.pdf) to manage grade sync and create assignment deep linking.

**Step 7**: For future use: Your integration is set to “Multiple Model” which means each new copy will display a “Confirm Course Creation” screen. [Choose the course from which you want to copy over the course customization for your MyLab/Mastering course](https://media.pearsoncmg.com/pls/tools/fulfillment/DirectIntegrationCourseCopyGuide-Brightspace.pdf). See your course coordinator for the appropriate course ID to select, if you are unsure.
