1. First you will need to have a D2L shell **that does not have any existing Connect links within it**.
2. To connect your course and begin adding links, navigate to any Module or Submodule and select **Existing Activities**, then **McGraw Hill Connect (LTIA)**.
3. **Select Connect:**
4. **Choose to Pair with a Connect Section:**
5. Then on the next screen choose **Pair with new Connect course**, since you will be making your course and creating assignments from scratch:
6. Search for the textbook you will be using, and select it.
7. Enter your course name, registration dates (Start: today’s date, End: one year after the class starts), and Section name. Since you plan on creating your assignments from scratch, you should not need to choose any options under “Copy assignments from:”, and if you do the links may not work.
8. Click Create Course.
9. Your D2L course should now be paired with the newly created Connect course. If you are not automatically directed to the Connect course, navigate back to your D2L course, select **Existing Activities**, and then **McGraw Hill Connect (LTIA)** to access your Connect section. Alternatively, you may see a screen with the option to click **Go to Section Home **to proceed.
10. Once you are in your Connect course, you will see there are no assignments yet. Click on “+Add Assignment” to start building your assignments.
11. Select the type of assignment you’d like to create:
12. For more information on creating different assignment types, you can visit [Connect: Creating Assignments and Exams](https://www.mheducation.com/highered/support/connect/assignments)
In this example I’ve chosen the “Question Bank” type. Select the chapter(s) you would like to use.
13. Then select the bank you would like to use:
14. You can then choose which questions you would like to include. There are various filters on the left side if you would like to find particular types of questions.
15. Select the checkbox next to the questions you’d like to use. Then click “add selected questions” at the bottom.
16. When you have clicked “add selected questions” you can then choose whether you want the selected questions in a pool, or shown as individual questions.
17. If you choose to pool the questions, you will need to choose a name for the pool, and how you would like to configure it. Ex: Choose 2 out our 4 questions, at 10 points each.
18. If you selected to add the questions as individual questions in the previous window, click Continue.
19. Then name your assignment, enter instructions if you’d like, and set start and due dates if needed.
20. Choose the assignment category. You can also “expand advanced settings” for each category, in order to see and/or edit specific settings for your selected category.
 1.
21. Once you have set everything up the way you’d like, click “review and assign”:
22. Look over your settings, then click Assign when ready.
23. To bring your new assignments into your D2L course, you can either do this one or two at a time as you create a new assignment, OR you can do this all at once after you have created all your Connect assignments.
Either way, you will need to select the checkbox next to your desired assignment(s), then click the stack of papers icon above, and click “Deploy/Manage”:

24. Set your grading options—either to choose the Best score, or the Last (most recent) score. Then click Deploy.
25. After hitting Deploy, you should see this screen for a few seconds back in your D2L course. Do not navigate away from here or close the window.
26. You will then be taken to the Content area and see your assignment link(s) that you have just deployed.
27. If you navigate to your D2L Gradebook you will also see new grade items for the assignments you have just deployed. Move these around as you would like.
28. **IMPORTANT STEP: **If you are teaching a Colorado Online @ pooled section, you will want to make sure that your Connect course is associated with the teaching college of your Colorado Online @ section. To check this, in your Connect section look for the associated school on the right, under "Section info":
29. If your CO@ Connect section is showing COLORADO CC SYSTEM, or any of the other colleges, you will need to change this in order for your students to have correct access to the course. You can do this by clicking the gear icon in "Section info" of your Connect course. Then choose "Edit section name & web address":
30. Then choose the school that is the teaching college associated with your CO@ section. If you do not see the correct school listed in the dropdown, please contact [CCCS Academic Technology](mailto:at.support.online@cccs.edu).
**NOTE: If your CO@ teaching college is FRCC, the associated school name in Connect must be FRCC - FT COLLINS campus**
