You will need to [go through the initial steps of connecting your D2L shell to a McGraw-Hill Connect course](https://cccs-edu.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KnowledgeBase/pages/35193209). If you do not have an account with McGraw Hill Connect already, please reach out to [CCCS Academic Technology](mailto:ccconline-at-support@cccs.edu) to have one created for you. After you have successfully connected your section, you will then be able to start adding and deploying assignments. This includes just a link to the eText, as well, which you will do by adding and deploying a "Reading Assignment".

In your D2L course, in the area where you would like to add your eText link, click **Existing Activities** and then **McGraw Hill Connect (LTIA)**.

![McGraw Hill Connect (LTIA) is the fourth option in the Existing Activities dropdown.](media://a224c7b8-f273-48da-a9c1-bf30ebe6e94e)

Click **Go to my Connect Section.**

Once in Connect, click the **Add Assignment** tab:

Choose **Reading Assignment **to start creating a link to the textbook.

Choose where you would like your reading link to start. For example, if you'd like the link to go to the very beginning of the textbook so students can start there and see the entire book, you can choose **Table of Contents, Prologue, Chapter 1**, etc.. If you only want to link to specific chapters, you can create different reading assignment links that go directly to specific chapters, as well. Once you have checked the box next to the desired textbook chapter, choose **Continue**.

![As Described in Text](media://8091ee5d-9ce7-4c7b-b98c-430763c60c3e)

Next you will see the option to set a start and end date on the reading assignment. You can either set dates or leave this blank. When you are finished, click **Assign**.

![As Described in Text](media://3a7fe9f1-e127-4b8c-926b-9c38132696dd)

You will now see your reading assignment listed in your Connect course. To create a link to this assignment in your D2L course, you will select the **checkbox** next to the assignment. Then click the **stack of papers icon** above, and choose **Deploy/manage**.

Make sure everything looks correct. Then click **Deploy**:

You will then be taken back to D2L, and you will see a link to your reading assignment. If you'd like, you can change the title of this link by clicking the **action triangle** next to the link, and choosing **Edit Properties in Place**. You can then edit the eText title to whatever you would like. In this case I've chosen to name it "eText".
